This panorama of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris was taken from the junction of the Avenue de la Grande Armee and Avenue Mac-Mahon. The Arc de Triomphe stands in the middle of a very busy and chaotic junction. Taking the pictures was not easy as there were so many cars continuously moving about, therefore it took quite some time to get the required images. This is one of the potential problems of shooting panoramas in segments.

Arc de Triomphe - Further Information

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Paris. There is a viewing platform a the top of the Arc which gives a panoramic vies over the Paris skyline. The Arc de Triomphe, Napoléon's triumphal arch at the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, at the end of the Avenue des Champs Elysées. The Arc is 51m high and 45m high. Napoleon himself is interred in the Eglise du Dôme. The Mitsukoshi Etoile Espace des Arts Museum is nearby. The Arc de Triomphe was designed by Jean Chalgrin, based on the Arch of Titus in Rome.

The Arc de Triomphe stands on the Axe historique (Historic Axis) of Paris. This axis is a 9km starts further east at the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel near to Le Louvre, passes through the Arc de Triomphe and continues west finishing at the Grande Arche (Grande Arche de la Fraternité or Arche de la Défense) at La Defense.
