These rocks from part of the sea defenses on the beach close to the car park, which can also be seen in the picture. The image was taken on a sunny day and shows a view over Keyhaven Marshes, with Milford on Sea down the coast. The outline of the Isle of Wight is off shore in the Solent. Almost due south of here, on the skyline, are the famous Isle of Wight Needles chalk stacks.Hurst Beach Sea Defences - Further InformationHurst Beach is runs for about a mile and a half from near Milford on Sea and Keyhaven in Hampshire out to Hurst Castle. Hurst Castle is a tourist attraction and museum managed by English Heritage. The beach is part of a shingle spit stretching out into the Solent, close to the Isle of Wight.Hurst Castle dates back to Henry VIII and played an important part in the defense of the Solent and the naval bases nearby. Though never seeing active service, the defenses of the castle have been continually modified, extended. Today Hurst Caslte is a popular tourist attraction with access both along the beach or via a ferry from Keyhaven (during the summer months). Comments and Reviews.
