The view from near the Chapel at Aletschbord, (2136 metres), a short walk from the ski resort of Belalp, which can be reached by cable car from Blatten in the valley below. From Aletschbord you are rewarded with fantastic views of the Aletsch glacier, where In July 2008, a new 124m long hanging footbridge was opened across the end of the glacier. Every August a traditional sheep festival is held here, known as the 'Schäferwochenende', when more than a 1,000 sheep are collected up via treacherous mountain tracks.
