The Piazza Grande in the heart of Locarno, is a busy square surrounded by charming old houses, shopping arcades, cafes and restaurants, and is well known for its annual film festival in August.
A short section of the original Locarno Tramway, which ran from 1908 until 1960, has been preserved and can be seen in this photograph where it suddenly ends.
