Plaza next to Split Cathedral and Peristyle of Diocletians Palace - Split visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Plaza next to Split Cathedral and Peristyle of Diocletians Palace' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Split-Dalmatia County.

The Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace in Split was the main courtyard leading to the imperial quarters, mausoleum (now Split Cathedral) and other important buildings. Running east from the northern end of the Peristyle is another plaza leading to the Silver Gate (Porta argentea) and the entrance to the cathedral ticket office. Rising behind the 4th century cathedral buildings and Roman remains is the 12th Century Bell Tower of St Duje, another popular tourist attraction.

From near the Silver gate a narrow alley leads south to the surface remains of the Imperial Buildings of Diocletian's Palace and the Ethnographic Museum. You can access some of the subterranean parts of the palace from the southern end of the Peristyle (entrance fees apply, except for the area lined with shops). A little to the west is the Temple of Jupiter.
