Primrose Hill - Toboggan and Snow 2010 - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
With the light fading, and the slope now of compacted semi-ice, nothing was going to stop people sliding down the slope using anything from broken suitcases to road signs and, surprisingly, the occasional real toboggan.
Primrose Hill - Toboggan and Snow 2010 - FURTHER INFORMATION
Primrose Hill - Toboggan and Snow 2010 - London visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Primrose Hill - Toboggan and Snow 2010' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Greater London.
Primrose Hill is a quite small as hills go, but once it has snowed it provides fantastic oppotunities for building snow-men, having snow-ball fights and tobogganing down the slopes. Found just north of Regents Park and London Zoo, the hill rises to a height of 256 feet (78m), Primrose Hill also offers some of the best views over central London, transformed after snowfall in December 2010.
The southern slopes, relatively free of trees if not people, make an excellent toboggan run. Not owning an actual toboggan is never going to hinder, people will use anything at hand that can slide, even if it means lying on top of one another on a tray in stacks of 3 to do it. Of course, steering and ability to stop are secondary considerations.
Those standing at the top are rewarded with great views over the city, which take in Canary Wharf in the Docklands, the City of London and Westminster. Both the London Eye and St Paul's Cathedral can be seen from the top.
