Saas Fee village is in the Saastal or the Saas Valley region of southern Switzerland. It is one of the most popular skiing and snow boarding resorts in Europe. At an altitude of 1800m, Saas Fee is surrounded by high Alpine peaks with rapid access to excellent ski slopes. Saas Fee is car free, giving a very relaxing atmosphere. The village has various hotels, holiday homes and ski chalets.

Saas Fee Skiing Area
The Saas Fee ski area has 35 pistes for all levels covering over 100 km of mountainside. The pistes can be broken down into 30 km beginner, 45 km intermediate, 25 km advanced. The top elevation of the Saas Fee ski area is 3550m with a vertical drop of 1800m. The ski area is served by 22 lifts, including 3 cable cars, 1 funicular railway (Metro Alpin), 5 gondolas (1 dedicated to walkers), 2 chairlifts and draglifts. Saas Fee is one of the most popular snow boarding resorts in Europe.

In addition to Saas-Fee there is more skiing at the Kreuzboden-Hochsaas above Saas-Grund nearby. Aside from alpine skiing and snowboarding, the resort also has 20km of winter walking trails and an 8km-long cross-country ski trail. Tobogganing is also popular and there is an 11-km-long toboggan run from Kreuzboden to Saas-Grund as well as opportunities for paragliding and hang gliding. The presence of the Dom and Allalinhorn glaciers allows skiing for 10 months of the year.

It is the highest underground funicular system on earth, emerging at the top of the Mittelallalin (3500m). From here there are some good red and blue runs on the Feegletscher, the longer ones winding all the way back down to Saas-Fee village.
