The Torre d'Albercutx (Talaia d'Albercutx) is a 16th Century defensive tower built on the Formentor Peninsula (Península de Formentor), a dramatic spur of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains on Mallorca. The tower stands at a height of about 320m offer dramatic panoramic views over much of north-eastern Mallorca.
Many places of interest are visible from the Torre d'Albercutx. This panorama shows the Platja de Formentor and the famous Hotel Formentor. To the south is Pollenca Bay (Badia de Pollença) on which are the Port de Pollença and Pollença beach. Beyond the next headland lies Alcudia Bay, lined by Alcudia (Alcúdia) and numerous beaches (Alcudia Beach, Playa De Muro and Can Picafort Beach). On a clear day it is possible to see over the sea to Menorca.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Take the Ma-2220 north from Alcúdia (Ma-2200 east from Pollença) to the Port de Pollença. Continue on the Ma-2210 west. The road winds dramatically up the hills to the Mirador des Colomer and then turn right onto a single lane track that winds round the hill to the Torre d'Albercutx. Limited parking available at the tower.
