Anzac Hill Memorial was unveiled on 25 April 1934 (ANZAC Day). Named in honour of the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps, ANZAC Hill in Alice Springs offers panoramic views out across the city, the McDonnell mountain ranges and the vast outback desert beyond.
A popular place to walk with several routes for easy access or an energetic hike, ANZAC Hill is the most visited landmark in the near vicinity of Alice Springs. Given that Alice is located in the center of a massive desert, the stars in the night sky are clearly visible without the 'light pollution' typical to cities which obscure the view. Astronomy is a very popular pass time here, so ANZAC Hill is a great spot high above the town to gaze at the wonders of the night sky.
