Jungfraujoch 3454m) is marketed as the 'Top of Europe' and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. It is actually the lowest point of the col, or saddle, between the Mönch (4107m) and Jungfrau (4158m) mountains. As this picture shows, the views from Jungfraujoch are truly stunning.

Just to the east of Jungfraujoch is the Sphinx peak (3571m), and an elevator ascends from Jungfraujoch to the Sphinx Observatory where there is a small viewing platform overlooking the Great Aletsch Glacier.

Jungfraujoch is reached by 7.3 km long cog railway tunnel and is the highest railway station in Europe. This line ascends from Kleine Scheidegg through a tunnel running under the Eiger and Mönch. It was conceived in 1893 and was intended to have 7 stations and terminate at the Sphinx itself. The final track has only 2 intermediate stations at Eigerwand (2865m) and Eismeer (3160m), both of which have viewing windows looking out onto the mountains.
